Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga: Is this a dirty kiss?

It isn’t uncommon to see a kissing scene in a Bollywood film, but that isn’t the case in Sandalwood.

Most Sandalwood directors haven’t dared to include liplock scenes in their films due to Censor Board regulations, or for fear of stirring up a controversy. However, reports that there will be kissing scenes in the Kannada version of The Dirty Picture — the Veena Malik-starrer Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga — have created a buzz in the industry.

The lead actor of the movie, Akshay, confirms that there are indeed such scenes in the film. “We have two kissing scenes in the movie. The heroine in the movie is exploited by directors and producers, and is bitter about the ways of the film industry. I play a rough- and-tough guy who falls in love with her. This scene conveys the expression of that love. To portray this character realistically, the kissing scenes were shot in an aesthetic manner. We have not included them in the film for the heck of having a kissing scene in it — the script demanded it,” says Akshay, adding that if the Censor Board objects to the scenes, the makers will take it to the Tribunal Board.

First Look: Veena Malik’s ‘The Dirty Picture’

Veena Malik, who has courted controversy right from her ‘Bigg Boss’ appearance to allegedly posing topless for a magazine cover, will be starring as Southern sex siren Silk Smitha in ‘The Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Hot Maga’.

Produced by Venkatappa and directed by Trishul, ‘The Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Hot Maga’ also stars Akshay.

Says Veena, “I am quite excited to be part of the film. As the lead heroine, I will get a lot of opportunity to perform. The director has packaged the film very well with glamour, sentiments and all other ingredients.”

Veena Malik voices support for gay marriage

Actress Veena Malik has raised eyebrows by boldly voicing her support for same-sex marriages.

“I openly support the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community and I don’t feel shy about doing it,” the express tribune quoted her as saying.

Giving the examples of starlets Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga, who stand up for gay rights, Malik justified her stance.

“If US President Barack Obama and Hollywood beauties can stand up for gay marriage, why can’t every citizen support this cause,” she said.
Malik added that “every person has the right to live their life” without interference.

When Malik shared the news of her pro-LGBT stance on micro-blogging site Twitter, the more liberal members on the social media forum applauded her.

One person reacted to Malik’s statement by posting “Way to go! LGBT people are loving and caring human beings who deserve happiness, love and acceptance!”, while another wrote: “This is why I love her.” Some claimed that she was the first Pakistani celebrity to openly support gay unions.

The more conservative quarters, however, expressed their indignation by using profanities. “She is taking all the shortcuts to become famous,” read one post.
